Els convenis de custòdia fluvial que promou l’Agència Catalana de l’Aigua tenen l’objectiu de promoure la co-gestió dels ecosistemes aquàtics, en relació al domini públic hidràulic i zona de policia, i zones de titularitat de l’administració de l’aigua, vinculant l’administració competent, propietaris, ens locals o supramunicipals, i entitats de custòdia, per tal d’afavorir la conservació i millora de la biodiversitat i el bon estat ecològic d’aquests ecosistemes.. Els convenis recullen la voluntat i els compromisos de les parts signatàries de col·laborar de manera conjunta en la realització d'actuacions per a la conservació, protecció i recuperació dels ecosistemes aquàtics, difusió, sensibilització i educació dels valors ambientals d’aquests espais. Tenen una vigència de 4 anys, amb la possibilitat que siguin prorrogats de mutu acord. La geometria correspon a l’àmbit d’actuació dels convenis de custòdia i ha estat digitalitzada sobre l’ortofoto 1:2.500 i el mapa topogràfic 1:5.000 de l’ICGC. Una ortofoto consisteix en una fotografia aèria vertical amb escala constant i propietats d’una projecció ortogonal, elaborada a partir d’un mosaic d’imatges aèries rectificades. Per tant una ortofoto té les propietats mètriques d’un mapa i la informació d’una fotografia, i a més està georeferenciada, el que permet poder superposar-la amb altra informació geogràfica de caràcter ràster o vectorial. Aquesta ortofoto d'alta resolució està elaborada a partir de dos vols fotogramètrics: un primer realitzat el mes de juliol de 2023 que va sobrevolar el litoral metropolità nord i un segon realitzat el mes d'agost de 2023 que va sobrevolar el litoral metropolità sud, i abasta les platges de l’àrea metropolitana de Barcelona (excepte el Port de Barcelona).
