Thematic coverage of the municipalities of Catalonia in which the maximum danger level in relation to the transport of dangerous goods by rail is represented. The danger level takes into account, apart from the flow of dangerous goods, the type of substances transported. The average data on the transport of dangerous goods from the last four years has been used with the aim of obtaining more stable data over time and minimizing the current variations derived from the socioeconomic context of each specific year. The danger may come from a section of the railway network that crosses the municipal area or by a section that, without crossing the territory, is at a distance equal to or less than 500 meters from the municipal area.

The ZIF (defenceless zone) is defined as the minimum security zone necessary to guarantee the viability of self-protection of vulnerable elements in the context of an accident in the transport of dangerous goods. The extension of this zone is conditioned by the necessary response time and the intensity of the effects of foreseeable accidents. The distances of the ZIF for the scenarios of long-range toxic cloud, short-range toxic cloud, serious explosion, flammable cloud and puddle fire are established in "The Technical Instruction of the DGPC regarding the preparation of reports on the conditions minimum requirements that new urban developments must comply with to be located within the identified chemical risk zones due to the transport of dangerous goods by road and rail" (ITMMPP).

For the purposes of Decree 30/2015, the areas affected by the risk of forest fires are defined as the 500 m strip surrounding any forest mass with a surface area of 5 ha or more. This delimitation is used to determine whether a campsite facility falls within the scope of the Decree. If so, it is required to have a self-protection plan.
