3D model of aquifers of Girona v1.0
3D model of aquifers in the urban and peri-urban areas of Girona and surrounding municipalities, developed within the framework of the MUSE project (Management Urban Shallow geothermal Energy, 2018-2021). More specifically, this model contains the lithological-hydrogeological units, the main geological structures and the topographic and piezometric surfaces of the project area.

- Purpose
- Promote the implementation and management of surface geothermal resources; promote knowledge of the subsoil, divulge surface and deep geothermal resources and facilitate the management and protection of underground water as a water and thermal resource; and enable analysis operations and queries to be carried out, with the possibility of generating other layers of information and reports.

Domain consistency
- Name of measure
- Compliance with INSPIRE requirements (data)
- Evaluation method description
- The data of this dataset do not aim to achieve compliance with INSPIRE regulations. For this reason, its conformity is not evaluated and it is declared not conformant compliant by default.

Domain consistency
- Name of measure
- Compliance with INSPIRE requirements (metadata)
- Evaluation method description
- The compliance of the metadata is evaluated using the "INSPIRE Reference Validator" web tool. The metadata is considered correct when the only errors reported are related with the main language of the metadata file. These errors are due to the fact that Catalan is not included in the list of official languages of the European Union.

- Statement
- The model is made by using the implicit geological modeling method, which uses several mathematical algorithms that rely on known geological data to infer the creation of geological surfaces while considering and maintaining the coherence and consistency of the 3D geological structure of the model. In addition, the data obtained from the geothermal stations of the corresponding primary network (XEGCat), specifically from Girona, Salt and Vilablareix, are used for the study and calculation of the geothermal potential for open and closed surface systems in this area and to study other aspects such as the possible "heat island" effect in the subsoil (Urban Heat Island).
