Typical and exclusive vascular plants of the beach and dune habitats of the Catalan coast
This article updates the floristic knowledge of the species that colonize the beaches and dunes of the Catalan coast. The study identifies typical species of these habitats, as well as those restricted to dunes. A total of 87 dune systems were sampled, identifying 224 species, of which 87 are considered typical of beach and dune habitats, and 34 are exclusive to these environments. The presence of exotic species reflects human impact on these ecosystems.

- Purpose
- The objective of this study is, generically, to provide data and knowledge to: Facilitate the management of the first miles of sea, continuously land-sea. This includes the comprehensive management of beaches, equipment and furniture, cleaning and dune areas; Develop any activity that has an impact on the coastal area; Carry out urban and territorial planning studies, for the design and assessment of the environmental impact of infrastructures, etc.; Evaluate the dynamics of sand movements in both the emerged and submerged parts of the beaches, in order to predict the effects of their evolution on management and planning, as well as promote studies on the general dynamics and generalized evolution of sand; Know the evolution of the coastline and the managed surface; Provide information that contributes to promoting actions and projects to improve adaptive capacity in the face of the impacts of climate change; Facilitate knowledge, by the public administration, the scientific world and the public, of the morphology of the coast. Specifically, the study proposes to: Update knowledge on the dune flora of the Catalan coast and determine which species are typical and exclusive to these habitats.

Domain consistency
- Name of measure
- Compliance with INSPIRE requirements (metadata)
- Evaluation method description
- The compliance of the metadata is evaluated using the "INSPIRE Reference Validator" web tool. The metadata is considered correct when the only errors reported are related with the main language of the metadata file. These errors are due to the fact that Catalan is not included in the list of official languages of the European Union.

- Statement
- Data obtained through the sampling of 87 dune systems along the Catalan coast between 2016 and 2019. Species were identified using orthogonal transects to the shoreline.
