The area covered is a rectangle described in these metadata using WGS84 decimal geographic coordinates, with the minimum and maximum longitude and latitude of the four corners. Values of "vertical extent" are the elevation above sea level in Alicante of Peak Aneto, as the highest point, and the last isobath (according to the spanish Hydrographic Institute of the Navy) as the lowest. The temporal extent corresponds to the date of updating of the digital file. During the transition period established in the Royal Decree 1071/2007 to go from the system of reference ED50 to the system ETRS89, the digital cartography will be available in both systems. The transformation of the data from ED50 to ETRS89 is carried out using the methodology and parameters approved of by the Commission of Cartographic Coordination of Catalonia (CCCC) (http://www.cccartografica.cat). Characteristics of the image file that are specific to the format: a compression factor of 4 is applied in the case of MrSID format and no compression is applied in the case of GeoTIFF; the origin of coordinates position in the pixel is "center" in MrSID format and "upper left" corner in GeoTIFF format. The information related to the corner points and to the point in the pixel, which appears in the "Spatial representation information" section of this metadata document, corresponds to MrSID format. There is also a printed version of this map.

The cartographic information gathered in this map comes from the digital generalization of cartographic databases and information from Institut Cartogràfic de Catalunya. Toponyms are inserted on screen, taking the planimetry and the altimetry as a reference. The hypsometric colours are scaled according to the intervals 0-100-200-400-600-800-1000-1200-1500-2000-2500-3000 and >, and the bathimetry according to 0-50-100-150-200-500-1000-1500-2000 and >. The concept "under construction or in project" reflects the final reach of the project and not the state of works in date of edition. This declaration is not applicable in all its terms in territories not depending from the Catalan administration.

Description

PLANIMETRY: from the generalisation of the ICC 1:250 000 database, updated January 2011. SHADED RELIEF AND HYPSOMETRY: Terrain elevation model of Catalonia. TOPONIMY: toponymy comes from ICC Toponyms database according to the Gazeetter of major toponimy of Catalonia, Generalitat de Catalunya 2009. ROAD NETWORK: information from Direcció General de Carreteres del DTS (Catalan Road Administration) and Ministerio de Fomento (Spanish Ministry of Public Works and Transport). Road Nomenclature: Decree 261/1999, 09-28-1999 and Royal Decree 09-26-2003. Roads of France and Andorra have been updated according to the most recent avalaible sources. DEMARCATIONS: municipal limits come frome ICC municipal limit database and the Comissió de Delimitació Territorial de Catalunya (Decree 244/2007), updated at date of publishing.
