Heights model of Catalonia 1 m - 2021-2023

Regular grid model of 1 meter resolution, from all over Catalonia, which expresses the heights, relative to the ground, of natural and artificial elements of the territory.

Purpose
The main objectives of this geoinformation are: Carrying out urban and territorial planning studies, for the design and evaluation of the environmental and visual impact of infrastructures, improving landscape design, etc.; Estimate volumes and capacities (forest stands, etc.) and assess changes occurring over time (vegetation growth, new construction, etc.) or resulting from specific events (fires, etc.); Providing a reference base for the development of any activity that has a territorial impact and that must take into account heights. They are especially relevant in the field of technical activities, management, planning or administration of the territory; Perform spatial analysis operations with other sets of geographic information, especially in 3D.

Evaluation method description
The metadata is reviewed for compliance with the INSPIRE specifications, in accordance with the criteria defined in the current Technical Guides. The metadata is considered compliant if the only notices identified are related to the use of Catalan as the main language of the register, a language that is not included in the list of languages provided for in the INSPIRE directive.

Statement
LiDAR is an airborne laser altimetry sensor that allows the generation of dense and highly accurate models of heights. The system provides a continuous point cloud over the territory, which is adjusted with control areas, and each of the points is subsequently classified according to the type of element of the territory it represents (terrain, vegetation, buildings, water, etc.). This classification, as well as the degree of manual correction that can be performed, may vary depending on the publication. With this: Generating a terrain model composed of triangles (via triangulation) based on points classified as ground (ground and model key points) and any added breaklines; Calculating the height of each LiDAR point relative to the ground by determining the difference between its elevation and the elevation of the terrain model (TIN) interpolated at that specific location; Generating a regular-grid elevation model by assigning the maximum height of the points contained within each pixel to that pixel. The fulfilment of the parameters of quality established for this database in the technical specifications is verified: positional accuracy and logical consistency.
