Maximum intervention and alert zones

It defines the maximum intervention zone and alert zone associated with an industrial establishment. If there are a group of industrial establishments located nearby in the territory, the maximum intervention and alert zone will be the total of these types of zones for all establishments in the event that the zones overlap. The intervention zone is the zone in which the consequences of accidents produce a level of damage that justifies the immediate application of protective measures. The alert zone is the zone in which the consequences of accidents cause effects that, although perceptible to the population, do not justify intervention, except for critical population groups. Likewise, in relation to resolution IRP/971/2010, of March 31, which publicizes the criteria for the preparation of reports referring to the control of the implementation of new vulnerable elements compatible with the management of civil protection risks, the maximum intervention zone coincides with the general confinement zone that corresponds to the strip with control of vulnerability and maximum permitted growth with the ultimate objective of allowing the population to be warned and the application of self-protection.

Name
Map of civil protection in Catalonia
Purpose
Represent the area of intervention and the maximum alert area corresponding to the possible accidents in an industrial facility handling hazardous substances and affected by the high level of severe accident regulations according to the calculations of the safety report assessed by the agency of the Generalitat de Catalunya competent in matters of industrial security. The zones allow identifying the different areas that would be affected in the event of a major accident by establishing different zones depending on the self-protection and intervention measures that would need to be applied.
