Land Cover Map of Catalonia (MCSC) v1.0 - 2019-2022
The Land Cover Map of Catalonia is an information set of high-resolution thematic cartography on the main types of land cover in the country, such as urban areas, agriculture, forestry or water bodies.

- The purpose of the product is to respond to the following use cases: 1. Know the territory; 2. Assess the land use in each place, in order to apply the assessment to ecological and also economic points of view; 3. To obtain the forest or crop surface at county, municipal level, in natural parks, etc .; 4. Plan the design of field sampling and that of connectors between natural spaces; 5. Carry out studies of urban and territorial planning, for the design and evaluation of the environmental impact of infrastructures, irrigation plans, etc .; 6. Generate maps and reports from spatial data; 7. Facilitate to the public to consult and download information from the data sets described at the local and regional level; 8. Carry out spatial analysis operations with other sets of geographic information.

- The data of this dataset do not aim to achieve compliance with INSPIRE regulations. For this reason, its conformity is not evaluated and it is declared not conformant compliant by default.

- Evaluation method description
- The compliance of the metadata is evaluated using the "INSPIRE Reference Validator" web tool. The metadata is considered correct when the only errors reported are related with the main language of the metadata file. These errors are due to the fact that Catalan is not included in the list of official languages of the European Union.

- Update of the 2018 Land Cover Map of Catalonia (MCSC), made from the photo interpretation of the ICGC orthophotos from 2019 to 2022, making a review throughout the territory and consulting available layers to confirm some cases, such as the SIGPAC of 2023, the Habitats Map of Catalonia, the Canopy Height Model, the Surfaces affected by forest fires, etc. All detected changes have been considered, with a minimum area of 500 m2. The MCSC model in raster format, or rectified grid format, is only made serve as a data structure in which to store the data transformed from the vector MCSC, through interpolation processes.
