The Land Cover Map of Catalonia is a information set of high-resolution thematic cartography on the main types of land cover in the country, such as urban areas, agriculture, forestry or water bodies.

- The purpose of the product is to respond to the following use cases: 1. Know the territory; 2. Assess the land use in each place, in order to apply the assessment to ecological and also economic points of view; 3. To obtain the forest or crop surface at county, municipal level, in natural parks, etc .; 4. Plan the design of field sampling and that of connectors between natural spaces; 5. Carry out studies of urban and territorial planning, for the design and evaluation of the environmental impact of infrastructures, irrigation plans, etc .; 6. Generate maps and reports from spatial data; 7. Facilitate to the public to consult and download information from the data sets described at the local and regional level; 8. Carry out spatial analysis operations with other sets of geographic information.

- Evaluation method description
- The compliance of the metadata is evaluated using the "INSPIRE Reference Validator" web tool. The metadata is considered correct when the only errors reported are related with the main language of the metadata file. These errors are due to the fact that Catalan is not included in the list of official languages of the European Union.

- Statement
- Update of the Land Cover Map of Catalonia of 2009 with a simplified legend (MCSC2009), made from the photointerpretation of the orthophotos of the ICGC 2018. It has been considered the changes greater than 2 ha identified by comparison of LANDSAT images of the two years, the changes coming from the BT5M of the ICGC, as well as the forest fire bases and the SIGPAC, of this period. The layer of change between 2012 and 2018 of the Corine Land Cover has also been considered and special attention has been paid to the Crops in Transformation and Areas in Transformation categories of the MCSC2009 due to their great dynamics. Exceptionally, due to the large volume of changes in the agricultural areas of Lleida and in the area of the coast from Tarragona to Barcelona, only agricultural changes of more than 5 ha have been photointerpreted. Supervision has been performed on a sampling of 811 points throughout the delivered territory, resulting in a thematic quality, or level of match between independent labeling and the labeling of the team that has performed the major upgrade changes 2009-2018, of 81%. The MCSC model in raster format, or rectified grid format, is only used as a data structure in which to store the transformed data from the vector MCSC, through interpolation processes.
