- The purpose of the database is to respond to the following use cases: 1. Locate, by address, people, activities, things or events that occur in places where people may reside or where activities may be carried out (direct geocoding). 2. Identify and normalize addresses where people may reside or where activities may be carried out. 3. Obtain an address "close to" a given coordinate (reverse geocoding). 4. Represent address information in geographic displays in quantity and form appropriate to the display scale. 5. Spatial analysis with other sets of geographic information.

- The compliance of the metadata is evaluated using the "INSPIRE Reference Validator" web tool. The metadata is considered correct when the only errors reported are related with the main language of the metadata file. These errors are due to the fact that Catalan is not included in the list of official languages of the European Union.
