Characterisation of the terrain in the release area and path of an avalanche
Information regarding an area exposed to an avalanche. Mapped based on analysis of the terrain and of signs that avalanches leave in their path, mainly, in forests. In Avalanche Zones, avalanches occur frequently and are of different sizes. Avalanche Zones have been systematically mapped throughout the region. They are shown in orange. There are two types of Avalanche Zones: zones where avalanches usually follow the same path, shown in orange, and zones where avalanches usually follow different paths, shown in pale orange.

- Digitalització de l'informació referent a una zona exposada a la davallada d'allaus. Prové de l'anàlisi del terreny i dels indicis que les allaus deixen al seu pas, principalment, en el bosc. A les ZA les allaus ocorren amb freqüència i dimensions variables. Les ZA es van cartografiar sistemàticament en tot el territori, i són la base de la BDAC, on es representen de color taronja. Els límits determinats a partir de tècniques dendrocronològiques també són incorporats sota aquest concepte.
- Description
- Initially the areas sensitive to avalanche triggering were mapped on a 1:25000-scale topographic base. Currently they are mapped on a 1:5000-scale base using 5x5m cell slope maps and 1:5000-scale ortophotos. Where appropriate the zones mapped on a scale of 1:25000 are revised.
