Its targets are the creation of a digital topographic database and the publication of digital and printed maps, such as County maps series, atlases or specific maps. Cartography of reference useful for the development of technical, management, territorial planning and leisure activities.

Disponer de una cobertura topográfica continua de Cataluña a escala 1:50 000 con el fin de crear una base topográfica digital y para la publicación de productos cartográficos digitales o impresos, bajo la forma de hojas comarcales, de atlas o de mapas con coberturas específicas. Es una cartografía de referencia útil para el desarrollo de actividades técnicas, de gestión, de planificación territorial y de ocio.

The licence of use of data generated by the Cartographic Institute of Catalonia (ICC), in any support, is granted only to the applicant, in a revocable, punctual, non-exclusive and untransferable way, and only on the condition of accomplishing the points stated in "Use conditions" of the ICC Web page. The applicant does not acquire any title, right or interest, on the granted information which is solely for his personal use or the use of the company that represents for activities directly related with its social objective.

La licencia de uso de los datos elaborados por el ICC, en cualquier soporte, se entiende como otorgada únicamente al solicitante, de forma personal, revocable, puntual, no exclusiva e intransferible, condicionada en todo momento al cumplimiento de las cláusulas que se detallan en el apartado "Condiciones de uso" de la Web del ICC. El solicitante no adquiere ningún título, derecho o interés, sobre la información cedida y la puede destinar únicamente a su uso personal o al de la empresa que representa para aquellas actividades directamente relacionadas con su objetivo social.

The area covered is a rectangle which includes an administrative unit ("comarca") of Catalonia. This area is described in these metadata using WGS84 decimal geographic coordinates, with the minimum and maximum longitude and latitude of the four corners. Therefore, it is an approximate geographic area. The treatment of the information is the same in the whole extension of the sheet. The vertical extent corresponds to values written in the map: geodetic marks, peaks or altimetric points. The temporal extent corresponds to the date of updating sources. During the transition period established in the Royal Decree 1071/2007 to go from the system of reference ED50 to the system ETRS89, the digital cartography will be available in both systems. Characteristics of the image file that are specific to the format: a compression factor of 4 is applied in the case of MrSID format and no compression is applied in the case of GeoTIFF; the origin of coordinates position in the pixel is "center" in MrSID format and "upper left" corner in GeoTIFF format. The information related to the corner points and to the point in the pixel, which appears in the "Spatial representation information" section of this metadata document, corresponds to MrSID format. This map is also published in paper support.

El ámbito de representación de cada hoja de la serie es un rectángulo que contiene una comarca administrativa de Cataluña. Este ámbito está descrito en estos metadatos en coordenadas geográficas decimales WGS84 con la longitud y latitud máximas y mínimas de las cuatro esquinas. El tratamiento de la información es el mismo en toda la extensión de la hoja. La extensión vertical corresponde a valores rotulados en el mapa: vértices geodésicos, picos o cotas altimétricas. La extensión temporal corresponde a la fecha de las fuentes de actualización. Durante el período de transición establecido en el Real Decreto 1071/2007 para pasar del sistema de referencia ED50 al sistema ETRS89, la cartografía digital estará disponible en los dos sistemas. Características del fichero de imagen específicas de formato: factor de compresión 4 en el formato MrSID y sin compresión en el formato GeoTIFF; posición del origen de coordenadas en el píxel "centro" en el formato MrSID y esquina "superior izquierda" en el formato GeoTIFF. La información relativa a los puntos de las esquinas y al punto en el píxel, que aparece en el apartado "Información de la representación espacial" de este metadato, corresponde al formato MrSID. Este mapa también se publica en soporte papel.

The column dimension of the image corresponds to the X (East) axis of the coordinate reference system and its value grows from west to east. The row dimension corresponds to the Y (North) axis and its value grows from north to south.

La dimensión columna de la imagen corresponde al eje X (Este) del sistema de referencia de coordenadas y su valor crece de oeste a este. La dimensión fila corresponde al eje Y (Norte) y su valor crece de norte a sur

The cartographic information gathered in this map comes from the phototointerpretation in screen of 1:5 000 Orthophoto of Catalonia, applying criteria of generalization, and the incorporation of cabinet and field work information. Contour lines come from the ICC altimetric database; interval: 20 m. The planimetry has been updated with the most recent orthophotos and sources. The concept "under construction or in project" reflects the final reach of the project and not the state of works in date of edition. This declaration is not applicable in all its terms in territories not depending from the Catalan administration.

La información cartográfica recogida en este mapa procede de la fotointerpretación en pantalla de ortofotos 1:5 000, aplicando criterios de generalización, y con la aportación de información de gabinete y de trabajo de campo. Las curvas de nivel proceden de la base altimètrica del ICC; equidistancia a 20 m. Los topónimos han sido seleccionados en función de la escala y situados en pantalla en relación a la planimetría y la altimetría. La planimetría ha sido actualizada con las ortofotos y la información más recientes disponibles a fecha de edición. El concepto "en construcción o en proyecto" refleja el alcance final del proyecto y no el estado de las obras a fecha de edición. Esta declaración no es aplicable en su totalidad en los territorios externos a la administración catalana.
