Supplemental Information
The horizontal extension of the data is described in these metadata in geographic coordinates, containing the minimum and maximum latitude and longitude of the territory of Catalonia. It is, therefore, an approximate geographical area. The vertical extension refers to terrain altitudes. The temporal extension refers to the rang of dates of the flight or flights from which the BT-5M sheets used to produce de elevation model have been elaborated. Since the data comes from the information of the BT-5M sheets that cover the territory of Catalonia, the nodes of the grid in the areas not covered by this database do not have altitude, fact that is represented with the value -9999. On the other hand, it is assigned a value of altitude -8888 to the nodes of the grid in the areas of sea covered by the BT-5M.

Units of distribution
The dataset is distributed by sheets. The surface of terrain covered by each sheet, coincides with the minimum rectangle that contains the sheet of the National Topographic Map 1:50 000 (MTN) with a strip of 30 m.

Statement
The terrain elevation model is elaborated from the altimetric information of the Topographic database of Catalonia 1:5.000 (BT-5M) v2.0. The fulfilment of the parameters of quality established for this database in the technical specifications is verified: positional accuracy, consistency and completeness.
Description
Generation of the triangular model of the terrain through processes of triangulation. Obtaining of the grid by means of the interpolation of the triangular model. Both processes are carried out at the BT-5M sheet level, using the information of the sheet itself and that of the adjacent ones.
Description
Altimetric information of the BT-5M v2.0 sheets that are total or partially included in each MTN sheet enlarged with a strip of 30 m. It includes profiles, spot heights, break lines and contour lines, all them collected on the terrain. The profiles are alignments of points, captured in the same direction, that collect the changes of slope; they are separated around 45 m and the distance between the points of the profile varies among 20 and 60 m depending on the characteristics of the terrain. The spot heights are collected as a cloud of points of variable density, placed in passes, peaks, crests of cliffs and sheers, bottom of depressions, esplanades and transport networks. The break lines complete the morphology of the terrain following ridges, talwegs, slopes, road network, hydrographic network and boundaries of flat areas like reservoirs, ponds and sea. The contour lines are used punctually in areas with little information or of difficult modelling when only the previous elements are collected.
