Geographic areas of settlement that appear in the Geographic Names Database of Catalonia (ICGC) and the Nomenclátor de municipios y entidades de población (INE), and the polygons that appear in the Economic Activity Polygon Information System (SIPAE), with their names and codes and the administrative divisions where they are located. The interpretative delimitation of the settlement areas includes the representation and location of buildings and constructions with a defined urban structure and the groupings of buildings including the associated spaces that respond to the same geographical name.

Land boundaries of the Catalan municipalities in accordance with the Decree 244/2007 and the Royal Decree 3426/2000 about the territorial organization of Catalonia. The municipality boundaries forms the municipalities, which are the basic local entity of the territorial organization of Catalonia. This data set is conforming to the technical specifications of INSPIRE Administrative units.

Geographic base that contains the current limits of the different administrative divisions that make up the territorial organization of Catalonia: the municipalities, the "comarques", the entity unique territorial area of the Aran Valley and the "vegueries"; also contains the provincial boundaries, the fixation of which it is state competence. It also includes the capitals of the municipality, the "comarques", the "vegueries", the provinces and Catalunya. The Base is multiscale. The official scale of territorial detail is 1: 5 000. From this the other scales of less detail are obtained, by cartographic generalization: 1:50 000, 1: 100,000, 1: 250,000, 1: 500,000, and 1: 1,000,000.
