Municipal map of Catalonia v2.0
The Municipal map of Catalonia (MMC) is the geographic base with all the Municipal maps (MM) that have been considered by the Territorial Delimitation Commission (CDT) and that contains, for each map, the boundary markers, of the lines drawn and of the polygons resulting from the official municipal boundaries of the territory of Catalonia.

- Purpose
- The objective of this geoinformation is: To comply with Article 38.1 of Decree 244/2007, according to which the complete delimitation of a municipality constitutes its municipal map, which must be submitted to the consideration of the Territorial Delimitation Commission. The general directorate competent in matters of local administration must register the municipal map in the Register of the local public sector of Catalonia and the Cartographic and Geologic Institute of Catalonia must register it in the Cartographic Register of Catalonia. And finally, to serve as a reference in all those areas of information that require official municipal maps of Catalan municipalities.

- The data of this dataset do not aim to achieve compliance with INSPIRE regulations. For this reason, its conformity is not evaluated and it is declared not conformant compliant by default.

- The compliance of the metadata is evaluated using the "INSPIRE Reference Validator" web tool. The metadata is considered correct when the only errors reported are related with the main language of the metadata file. These errors are due to the fact that Catalan is not included in the list of official languages of the European Union.

- The determination of the position of the boundary markers and the layout of the lines come from different sources of information: For the municipal boundary markers and lines, from the reports of the topographic works carried out by the ICGC, based on the acts of recognition, the resolutions published in the DOGC or the judicial resolutions that determine the current official line; For the closing line of the polygons, with the sea and neighboring countries, it comes, respectively, from the coastline of the Territorial topographic reference (previously of the Topographic Base at 1:5,000 scale) of the ICGC and the "Base de datos de Límites Jurisdiccionales de España" of the National Geographic Institute. The temporal difference in the incorporation of different MMs into the MMC database, together with the fact that the municipal delimitation is in constant evolution and transformation by the administrations involved, may mean geometric or topological inconsistencies between landmarks, lines or polygons of neighboring municipalities (e.g. connections in areas where three terms meet that do not coincide). These inconsistencies are corrected as the MMs are updated again in the MMC.
